Alpacas of Wessex was established in 1999 . We have seen this exciting industry develop every year with the herd population growing and the fibre quality improving drastically. In 2003 Alpacas of Wessex completed an import from Peru. After months of hard work and difficulties we managed to bring back to the UK some of the most elite stock which have ever left the Altiplano including the famous Rural Allianza Wiracocha of Wessex , who at 18 years old still knows who is boss. Many of females from this import have gone on to produce prize winnning stock for many breeders . This has been a huge achievement, which has complimented the industry enormously. Imports in the future for our own purposes will be very selective .

We are located on the Dorset/Wiltshire border near the Historic hill top town of Shaftesbury surrounded by lovely rolling hills and green pastures where alpacas roam freely.

We began with a dream of operating and owning a premier Alpaca Stud, with the focus on the best possible fibre that could be produced in Europe. With this still the focus, our fibre quality and Stud grade has improved immensely from those early days.

Alpacas of Wessex has focused mainly on breeding elite whites however, we have a vast stud stable of all different coloured sires . We have invested alot of time and effort to achieve our aim. Ours stud sires are re - knowned throughout the continent for the improvement they have made in the Uk and european industry.
